Our research group "RESIDUAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL FATE OF PESTICIDES IN AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS" was created as a result of developing and interdisciplinary lecturer group interested in residual and environmental fate of pesticides between the Chemistry Department and Agronomy Faculty at Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

The work group began developing the project " Environmental Impact of Selected herbicides in Colombia Lowlands " supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) COL05/16 Program, under the direction of Cilia Fuentes Ph. D. The succesful completion of this project led to the stablishment of a working laboratory adjusted for the proper use of isotopic and related techniques in the analysis of herbicide residues; with this project were carried out different studies with Atrazine herbicide and its metabolites.

At the end of that work the IAEA supported a new project "Assesment of Pesticide residues in vegetables, fruits and flowers and their impact on the environment"; COL50/18, under the direction of Jairo Arturo Guerrero Dallos Ph. D. The Laboratorio de Análisis de Residuos de Plaguicidas has been assembled during this project at the Chemistry Department and we have a Quality Control and Quality Assurance Program according to ISO 17025 Standar in order to produce reliable and reproducible results.
