Academic Council

The Academic Council is the maximum academic authority of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and is integrated by:

  1. The University President who would chair it.
  2. The Vice-Presidents.
  3. The Deans.
  4. Two faculty representatives from different campuses who would have at least the associate professor rank and elected by direct voting, for a period of two years, and who are in accordance to the regulations issued by the University Superior Council.
  5. Two student representatives, from undergraduate and graduate programs, elected both by direct vote and for a period of two years according to the regulations expedited by the University Superior Council. The representative of the graduate students can not have an employment relationship to the University.

The Director of the University Welfare will assist but can’t vote in the sessions of the Academic Council.

Each one of the teaching and student representatives will have a substitute. In no case the same person could simultaneously be a representative of any collegiate group defined under the present statute.

The members of the Academic Council will remain to their tasks, as soon as they maintain the corresponding standards.

PARAGRAPH. The Academic Council will invite, at least once a year, the National Campus Directors present information about the development of each campus. These will be sent, with the approval of the Academic Council, to the University Superior Council

The functions that must be exerted by the School Body were established, among others, by the Article 22 of the Agreement 011 of 2005 – General Statute.
